What is it that people ultimately want.We lap up all angrezi “dishum dushum ' cos its Hollywood.However senseless it may be.But desi “dishum dishum”-oh nono-its jarring , not integral to the script and blah.
When a Cameron Diaz wears non-designer everyday house clothes, then we go-Oh vow what lovely simple girl looks ,what a breezy movie.But when our Desi heroine dons her sweet n simple everyday avatar , why does the image of a behenji float in our head immediately.
The peak of double standards is reached when we reject a Vidya Balan in Kismet Konnection-in pursuit of a Chakachak wardrobed heroine.Still when we r dished out a kareena kind of a girlin Tashan ,We delete the movieout of our memory like a bad dream.We like Kareena's look in Tashan but not the movie.Here in KK we dislike Vidya Balan but wer hate the movie too -though not wholly.Cos there is Shahid totally waiting in the wings to salvage the movie.
The first movie of Shahid I liked is this one.No not Vivah(he was too goody goody in that)And not even JWM(he was too shy and had a dominated by kareena kind of persona drippin throughout.)With this movie-Shahid comes of age,he is very lovable and has not overacted.He is funny where he has to be and is jittery where he has to be.
Lovable ok he is, But not his character in the movie.Oh the poor script.Blame it on the script for the umpteenth time.In this movie-the logic is silly.I absolutely dont buy it.He loves her because she is his good luck charm.Oh please-its like getting married for Dowry. and other favours. The logic is as cheap as the groom marrying into a family where the girls ppl can get him a nice placement and hence a good headstart.
The proof that the world has progressed has been proved by the fact that ppl are not able to digest the movie's story.And wht happened to Vidya Balan.Was she also a victim of the same memory loss that struck the scriptwriter of the movie.OH god she has the same cut copy paste role from Lageraho.
The movie would have been a superflop if not for some of Shahids comedy scenes, his dance moves, his underplayed yet trendy wardrobe and his Mindblowing mocking scene with Vidya 's fiance in the movie.Though eight percent of the movie also belongs to Himani shivpuri for the authoritatively comically effective scenes that she has been alotted screen space for.
DONT got this movie sayin-”Oh god not another bad wardrobe from Vidya”. ppl have been nasty enough to say that even Madhuri did not look so old in her comeback movie.
GO to this movie saying-I wannna enjoy the brilliance of Shahid-his dance- his very being there takin away the gloom from the movie.Go for the some of the songs that are as naturally shot as any of Aziz Mirza's feel good entertainers of the yore.
THIS MOVIE HAS TO BE SEEN AND THAT TOO IN THE CINEMA HALL FOR -SHAHID
JUST as Dhoom 2 had to b seen and had to be seen in the hall for Hrithik.
Oh dear- I just cant seem to get the Title track of the movie out of my head.
